Yosemite is a wedding photographer’s dream destination.
Abbey and Alex are climbers and have a special connection to the park as they’ve spent a lot of time there getting to know, and trust, each other.
After their ceremony we walked around the Lower Yosemite Falls trail, and out into the meadows with Half Dome shrouded in clouds setting the scene. Leaving the Valley, we were able to capture fading light in the valley. We then cruised back to Tenaya Lodge for an awesome ceremony featuring the lively guitar and drum set of North Lake Tahoe’s Jeff Jones, a traditional Greek dance, and plenty of laughter and good fun.
Brandon and I denied the temptation to wake up at 4 a.m. the next morning and catch the rising sun in Yosemite Valley, and we’re glad we did, the breakfast at Tenaya Lodge is not to be missed. Well fueled with coffee, eggs and fruit we cruised through the beautiful foothills of the Western Sierra up over Carson Pass and back to Reno and Mammoth Lakes. For those that haven’t experienced Highway 49 near Bear Valley, it’s a must-do–incredible west-side greenery and the one of the craziest set of hairpin turns I’ve ever seen. Definitely worth the motion sickness.
It was a great weekend spent laughing with friends, and making art of ethereal moments.
