Alli and Ernie’s Mammoth Lakes wedding this July was one of the most memorable weddings we’ve shot.
Both their families are ubiquitous to the Eastern Sierra and have probably been here for longer than anybody not named McCoy.
Their longevity here also means they’re tied up with some of the area’s most legendary characters, such as the officiant Tom Beveridge. Beveridge, a cowboy and a retired math teacher, is known locally as being a tough son of a bitch (I know because he was my teacher). Alli and Ernie were looking for somebody memorable to guide their ceremony, and they found the right guy. He went with the straight Wild West-theme, complete with two pistols and a shotgun to keep their rowdy friends and family in line. I’m not sure if his services are for sale, but as you’ll see below he could probably make some money as an officiant based on his looks alone.
The day started at The Westin Monache where the ladies got ready before we went up to Twin Lakes and Lake Mary for some portraits of the wedding party.
We finished up at the Lakes Basin and went down to Hayden Cabin where the catering crew from Angel’s/ Convict Lake and the ladies at Green Fox Events had done an amazing job transforming the grounds into the intimate forested site that Alli had imagined.
They did a fantastic job with DIY decor and signage, and their guests did an awesome job of ensuring a rowdy early-afternoon reception. Local musicians Good Livin’ also did their thing and kept the dance floor rockin’ as well as can be done at 1 p.m.
Karl Anderson, my second photographer for the day, made several of these photos including the incredible shot of Alli’s dress above. He’s a badass photographer with an occasionally badass mustache.
That’s all for today. We did photo booth too which we’ll post some of on Minaret Photography’s Facebook soon.
Josh and Rebecca shot another wedding the same day just down a dirt road at Sherwin Meadows Ranch. Photos from that are on the way.
We’ve been as busy as ever with weddings, family sessions and engagement photos so we’ll keep it coming here. Check back soon if you like photos of cool people in beautiful places. Thanks again.
