Mammoth Lakes Engagement Photography at Rainbow Falls and Devils Postpile with Brian and Roanne

When Brian and Roanne (Broanne for short) emailed us this fall to do engagement photography at Rainbow Falls and Devils Postpile, I was ecstatic. Those two spots, just west of Mammoth Mountain, are among the most iconic in the Mammoth Lakes area.  I’ve wanted to do pre-wedding portraits there for a long time.

It was just a matter of finding a couple that wanted to put in the time and effort to get there.

Not only was Broanne willing to hike down to the falls, they were stoked to cross the San Joaquin River to get right in front of them–no easy task considering the water is probably as high and fast as its been in October in many years.

We had a blast exploring the trails to some of Mammoth’s most incredible spots, and made some amazing pictures along the way.

Their Southern California wedding will be next summer, but we’re going to do another engagement session during the winter, on the snow. Based on their dedication to the first shoot, I have no doubt that we’ll come back with more awesome images.

Continue to check in Tuesdays and Thursdays. Josh and I have been doing a lot of fun family, engagement and portrait sessions that we’ll be posting here. Last week I shot Frost and Shannon at Bodie which was awesome, so keep an eye out for that.
