John and Karen decided to challenge the Mammoth weather for their wedding a few weeks ago and, as rarely happens here, I can say they won the battle.
The weather report was showing storms all weekend long and it never fails to snow for Top of the Sierra weddings in the winter, but John and Karen had luck on their side.
There wasn’t a cloud in the sky when we arrived to the top gondola building at 9 a.m., and the storm steered clear until all the formalities were finished at about 11.
After the ceremony was over we went down the gondola to McCoy Station for some family photos on the snow, and strapped into our gear for some action shots.
John had two snowboards monogrammed for the occasion which was an awesome touch. Unfortunately, the monogrammed stickers peeled off after a few turns but we got some great shots before they were gone. We took a run down Broadway with the wedding party. John and Karen had a nice collision near the top, and then we all shredded down to Chair 1 to go up and make some cool formal portraits as the storm set in around the resort.
Thanks to Jen and Mammoth Mountain Weddings for keeping things running smoothly despite the uncertainty with the weather. It all worked out perfectly like usual.
That’s it for today. Josh shot a wedding last weekend in Reno that he’ll post up next week. Check back soon.
