Chase and Miranda’s Mammoth Mountain wedding in early March was a day of new shooting opportunities for us.
First, after shooting family portraits in The Village and at the bottom gondola at Main Lodge, they held their reception on the sundeck at McCoy Station; a spot we’ve never shot before. It was a great location for their group, which was only about 30 people. It’s a venue with great views and is well protected from the elements on all sides. It was a bit cold, but nobody seemed uncomfortable and the ceremony was quick and awesome.
After the ceremony was done, the real fun began. Everybody but the groom and groomsmen descended the gondola to go to The Mill for the reception. Chase and a few of his buddies decided to snowboard down Stump Alley to The Mill.
Under normal circumstances, this is no big task. But this was long after the mountain had closed and the sun had set. To ensure a safe run, they enlisted a ski patrolman to accompany us down and he even hauled one of Chase’s buddies down in a toboggan. It was a hilarious and unique interlude before the reception.
The reception was at The Mill, which was also a spot we’ve never shot before. It was a perfect venue for this size group and had a cool rustic feel that few other local spots can claim.
It was another awesome weekend and Chase, Miranda, and their young daughter Cheyenne seemed thrilled with how it all went down. We ended up with a lot of great images, too many to share in one post so I’ll split this one up into two. Part 2 will come early next week.
Thanks a lot and check back soon.
