The Burfield’s and I began making portraits at the University of Nevada Reno on a warm fall day, ending at Rancho San Rafael Park on what felt like a very cold fall evening. Red Cheeks and noses were abundant as was a cold breeze and darkness, but we stuck it out to the sunset and got some great photos with awesome light.
Nolan, the oldest, is graduating from Spanish Springs High School this year and wanted a few shots for his senior portraits, (without making a big deal of it) so we focused a bit of extra time on him. The UNR quad is a great and diverse place to make portraits, I was even able to climb a tree (I love climbing trees) and we found some great colors in the leaves. Rancho San Rafael gave us some great evening light as well as the cool pedestrian tunnel for some super hero action.
Jackie works at the UNR University Studies Abroad Consortium a special program for many people I know. Brandon studied in Spain and I went to Costa Rica, both of us met our girlfriends in the program. Most of my friends have been able to live in other countries thanks to the study opportunities USAC offers. I am confident my experiences living in another culture have positively shaped who I am and how I interpret the world, I am constantly thankful for the experience.
As I’m sure you’re aware, Thursday is Thanksgiving and Thursday is our other normal posting day. Since it’s Thanksgiving we’ve decided to give something away. I will be posting a landscape photo or two, and you will have the chance to win a 16″x20″ stretched canvas (ready to hang) print of the image. This will be our first contest/giveaway so I’m excited to see how it goes and to give someone a print for their home.
Thanks to Jackie, Nolan and Casey for being fun to hang out with and photograph and for braving the cold wind for some awesome light.
