We met Vivian and Bert this fall at Scott and Laura’s Convict Lake wedding.
They were looking for family photos for their Christmas card this year, and the meeting a few months ago in Mammoth led us to this session at Sunset Cliffs, in San Diego.
Vivian’s Cuban bakery, Azucar, is just down the road from where we shot these and it was an awesome spot to make sunset portraits.
It was raining a bit when we got there, but we ended up having a perfect hour on the cliffs with heavy coastal clouds and the rising tide pounding waves into the cliffs below. We timed out a sweet shot with a wave crashing into the cliff just beyond where we stood. It was awesome, and the kids did a great job waiting for the right moment.
We love Mammoth and Tahoe, but it’s great to get out and shoot portraits in different types of backdrops. We’ve got some epic beach weddings lined up for 2014 and we couldn’t be more excited for the change of pace. Maybe travel to warmer climates will encourage winter to return to California. Mother Nature seems to work that way and we’ll take it however we can right now.
That’s it for this week. Josh and I shot a lot of portraits during the Christmas holiday so we’ll have a lot more on the Minaret Photography blog soon.
