When I told Perla to meet me at Chair 15 (Eagle Lodge) on Mammoth Mountain for her senior portraits last month, I thought we’d be free to shoot wherever we wanted.
I thought we’d be able to stroll up, jump on the chairlift, and act like we owned the place.
Turns out it was the day the chair opened, and there were skiers making their first runs of the season on that part of Mammoth.
Plan B, on the bike trail just below Eagle Lodge, worked out well. There are a few defunct chairlifts planted along the bike path there that made for a cool prop. There’s also a really good view of Mammoth Mountain there that made for an awesome backdrop.
At about 4, when the sun went down, we went over to the lift and made some portraits on and around it. I was freezing my A$% off, but Perla, along with her sister and husband, didn’t seem too bothered, so we went until the sun was no longer usable.
That’s all for today. We’ve got plenty more, including another senior couple, and some engagement sessions on the way so check back soon.
