Scott, Shaheen and I met up in mid-January to shoot engagement photos on one of the coldest mornings I’ve ever experienced. It was outrageously cold–I’d actually say miserably cold, but these tough Southern Californians were up for it.
We started early in the morning on the Mammoth Lakes Basin road where snow removal stops and winter adventure begins. I’d done a bit of skiing out there that week and schemed up some sweet places to shoot. The morning sun lights up Mammoth Mountain and the Crest, while the low trails around Tamarack are still in the shadows. It worked out incredibly. It almost looks like a green screen, with Mammoth’s legendary side-county ski run, Hole-in-the-Wall, in the background.
We walked about a half-mile up the track there and shot until my hands turned turquoise and stopped being able to press the shutter. It was a successful start, but we needed another location to diversify the photos, and to thaw out.
We ended up at the Looney Bean, Mammoth’s most established coffee house. It was a great way to switch up the venue while keeping with the Eastern Sierra vibe we were after.
That’s all for today. We’ve been shooting all types of different things lately that we’ll post here. We’ve had a wedding, more engagement sessions, and a promotional shoot for a local restaurant recently so check in here to see some of that. Thanks again.
