When we have a minute to look back at the wedding season of 2018 this winter, one key component we’ll all remember in Mammoth Lakes was the relentless smoke from nearby California fires. This wedding unquestionably hit at the apex of the fire season and part of the reason I’m posting this one is because, with the help of the crew at Convict Lake, I’m proud of how well this came out in the toughest of conditions. You couldn’t even see Laurel Mountain, the iconic peak that towers over the lake and gives that classic Eastern Sierra canyon its character. We did get lucky when the breeze blew some smoke out for sunset, and turned the sky bright orange, but this will go down as the epic fire season wedding for us and one we’ll be able to share with future clients who may be concerned about any kind of adverse conditions–we’ll deliver!
